The D'Alagno Castle was built for Lucrezia d'Alagno, a lover of the King of Naples Alfonso V of Aragon, in the second half of fifteenth century in the upper part of the village of Somma Vesuviana.

After several years of abandonment it had become a ruin when the city council of Somma Vesuviana decided to restore it to turn into a virtual museum of the municipality.

The project aimed to the conservation of the monument as a whole, without modification of the interior spaces and the architectural features. Therefore, all the rooms are readable in their original conformation. It was given a special importance to the project of Virtual museum and teaching rooms. The same Virtual Museum equipment does not transform the architecture of the monument and does not overlap with it.
